Virginia Beach curfew challenged in court
A retired Virginia Beach police officer has filed a lawsuit to block the city’s new all-ages curfew in parts of the Oceanfront, challenging its legality just one day after it was enacted.
Lisa Lawrence, a longtime resident near the curfew zone, alleges she will suffer "irreparable harm" by being unable to move freely near her home during the restricted hours.
The filing argues that the city exceeded its state-granted authority by declaring an imminent threat exists to justify the measure. Lawrence claims the curfew punishes law-abiding citizens.

The first new gates in 20 years have officially opened at Norfolk International Airport, marking a major milestone in the airport's ongoing billion-dollar improvement project.
Gates A10, A11 and A12 debuted last week in Concourse A, featuring floor-to-ceiling airfield views and serving as the new hub for American Airlines flights.
The $25 million concourse expansion follows the recent opening of a new international arrivals facility and extensive runway rehabilitation.

Musical Swings bring whimsy to Williamsburg
The Musical Swings, an interactive public art installation from Montreal-based studio Daily Tous les Jours, has transformed the grounds of the Williamsburg Community Building into a collaborative instrument.
Since arriving in late March, the 10 swings have invited residents of all ages to create guitar-like tones through motion, with higher swings producing higher pitches that blend into a collective melody.
The swings will remain open to the public through May 17.
