Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch talks Indigenous sovereignty in U.S. law at VA250 event in Williamsburg
U.S. Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch visited Williamsburg over the weekend to voice his continued support for Indigenous sovereignty and the strength of tribal governments.
Speaking during Virginia’s commemoration of the nation’s 250th anniversary, Gorsuch encouraged young Native people to build up their communities, economies and education systems.

Military spouse unemployment and underemployment remain critical issues in Hampton Roads, driven by frequent moves, licensing hurdles and high childcare costs.
To address these barriers, Hiring Our Heroes is hosting professional development workshops and a hiring event in Virginia Beach this week featuring more than 20 regional employers.
The initiative aims to provide spouses with essential networking and resume skills while encouraging businesses to adopt flexible career pathways for military families.

Zero Waste Wardrobe collects clothes for Virginia Beach families
Families recently gathered at Mount Trashmore for a "Zero Waste Wardrobe" clothing giveaway hosted by the Virginia Beach Clean Community Commission.
The event, held as part of the wider Celebrating Children festival, keeps usable items from being thrown away while helping families afford the costs of growing children.
Volunteers and students distributed approximately 75 large bags of clothes, with remaining items donated to the Virginia Beach Education Foundation.
